International English language testing system (IELTS) is a test of English as a foreign language that tests the student’s proficiency in the four areas of English Language (listening, reading, writing and speaking). The score ranges from 0 to 9 bands. IELTS is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS is recognized by educational institution, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies in many countries.
There are mainly two formats of IELTS (Academic test and General Training Test). The IELTS Academic test is for people applying for higher edu cation or professional registration in an English speaking environment. The IELTS General Training test is for those who are going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs. However, to apply for the UK only, UKVI IELTS (Academic Test, General Training Test and IELTS Life Skills (A1, A2 and B1) is required according to the purpose of the candidate.
